The Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club is affiliated with the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). Matches are generally held the third Saturday of each month at the Helldorado pistol range, with check-in at 0800 and a shooter brief and stage walk through at 0900. Defensive Pistol shooting as a sport is simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated "real world" self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in Defensive Pistol events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. No "competition only" equipment is permitted in Defensive Pistol matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of the individual, not their equipment or gamesmanship. New shooters to IDPA are required to join the IDPA after one match if the shooter desires to compete in additional IDPA events.

The Archery range is in the works for upgrades and eventually there will be 3D targets of all wildlife figures that will be used on a walking path throughout the archery range. When finished, the archery range will have an abundance of wildlife depicting a life sized moose, elk, deer, bear, goat, pigs, sheep, raccoons, badgers, foxes, turkeys, antelope and anything else that can be found in the mountain terrain where hunters shoot their bows.
As we move forward on this project we are looking for other members who have the same interests and would like to help in the design and implementation of the these exciting new features.
